Giles Penny Saver Store

This site was once home to a store owned by Oscar and Alice Giles, passionate advocates for the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party and key figures in the local civil rights movement. In 1965, the store was firebombed, but with the support of the community, the flames were bravely extinguished. Though the store no longer exists, a marker now stands to honor its legacy and the resilience of those who fought for justice here.
