Second SNCC Office

After leaving the Avenue I office, SNCC workers moved to this building. By 1963, local participation in Civil Rights activities grew, fueled by the supervisors' decision to stop commodity distribution. CORE, COFO, SCLC, and NAACP joined SNCC in promoting voter registration and literacy. On March 24, 1963, a fire destroyed much of the office's records and equipment.
